Catholic Field Hockey Blanks Juniata, 2-0

Box Score

WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America field hockey team improved 7-2 overall and a perfect 2-0 in Landmark Conference games as the host Cardinals shut out Juniata, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon at Cardinal Stadium.

After 21 scoreless minutes, senior Rachel Day broke through for the Cards as she put one in from close range for the gamewinner.

The Cardinal defense stood up for the full 70 minutes as they limited Juniata to just one shot on goal and four total shots.

Catholic added an insurance goal in the 62nd minute when junior Lane Adams corralled a loose ball off a penalty corner and played it in for her first goal of the year.

The Cards totaled 12 penalty corners in the game, four more than the Eagles and outshot Juniata, 9-4.

Catholic looks to keep its momentum rolling next week when the Cardinals host No. 3 Salisbury on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
