Myrtle Beach, S.C. - The Catholic University of America baseball team opened their annual spring break trip with back-to-back wins over Penn St. – Berks, on Sunday afternoon.

The Cardinals captured game one with a 3-1 victory while grabbing a 4-3 win in extra innings of game two.

Sophomore Jon Mierzwa opened on the mound for Catholic, throwing fiving innings with eight strikeouts. Junior Mark Duffy pitched the sixth inning and senior Joseph Salzano closed the game for his first save for his first save of the seasons.

Juniors Jake Crist and Anthony Ferlise along with sophomore Bailey Lewis provided support for the game-one win with one RBI a piece.

Felise batted in the first runner of the game during the first inning. Tow batters later, Crist followed with an RBI-single to right field.

During the fifth inning, Lewis drove a double down the left line for Catholic final run of game one.

The second game took extra innings and the Cardinals rallied to walk off victorious.
