WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America pulled off its third nationally-ranked upset of the season on Wednesday night at Cardinal as No. 18 Catholic came back from a one-goal halftime deficit to defeat No. 7 Salisbury, 3-2.

The Cards were down at the half, 2-1, but senior Rachel Day finished a close feed from sophomore Katie Anderson to even it up just four minutes into the second stanza.

Only 10 minutes later, junior Hannah Schied buried the gamewinner off a point-blank look. It was her second goal of the game as she also tied the game up at 1-all with just six minutes to go before halftime.

The Cardinals improve to 8-2 overall on the season and earn its third Top-20 win of the year just a day after entering the national coaches poll. Catholic has already won on the road at then-No. 18 Christopher Newport and then-No. 17 Mary Washington.

Senior Kelly Cousoulis pitched in a complete game effort and anchored the defense that held Salisbury scoreless of the final 40 minutes of the game. She also added an assist.

Catholic outshot the Seagulls, 9-5, and put eight of its attempts on goal. The Cardinals also earned the edge in penalty corners, 6-3.

The Cards are now on a four-game win streak with its only loss coming to No. 1 Messiah.

They will look to take their momentum into a home Landmark battle this weekend against Elizabethtown at 5:30 p.m., at Cardinal Stadium.
