Box Score Madison, N.J. — The Catholic University of America field hockey team put on an impressive showing on Saturday at Drew at the No. 11-ranked Cardinals rolled past Drew, 5-0.
The Cardinals were led by senior Rachel Day who scored twice against the Rangers. Catholic put up 51 shots in the game to just one by Drew. The game could have been even more unbalanced but Drew keeper Ryann Callaghan made an impressive 24 saves.
The two teams played a scoreless 21 minutes to start the match, but just seven seconds later, Catholic got on the board on a goal by sophomore Carly Philbin.
Less than a minute later, senior Marisa Martinelli put another one up as she finished the feed from Day.
Day got the next two for Catholic in the second half, including a nice setup on the fourth goal of the game by classmate Kerri Shallow.
The final score came with just 51 seconds left as the senior duo of Kelly Cousoulis and Rachel Baca combined for the goal as Baca finished the pass for her first points of the year.
Catholic put 32 of its shots on goal and held a 15-o advantage in penalty corners.
The 13-2 Cardinals will look to cap a perfect Landmark slate next Saturday as Catholic hosts Scranton with the regular-season title and home-field advantage on the line against Scranton at 5:30 p.m., on Senior Day.
