Box Score WASHINGTON – For the first time in three matches The Catholic University of America volleyball team came up short, falling at Shenandoah, 3-2. The Cardinals took the first two sets, but the Hornets rallied for the win.
It was the second time Catholic faced off against Shenandoah, winning at the DuFour Center in early September, 3-1.
After holding the Hornets to 16 points in the first and 20 in the second, Shenandoah won by just two in the third set to extend the match. The Cardinals nearly closed it out in the fourth, but SU found the edge, 26-24, before closing it out in the fifth.
Senior middle hitter Kathryn Herrington led the offense with 12 kills and added six digs and four blocks, including two solo stops.
Fourth-year libero Michelle Bouchard posted a team-high 29 digs, while junior setter, and reigning Landmark Athlete of the Week Michelle Seals, registered a double-double with a match-high 40 assists and 17 digs.
The Cardinals will look to regroup before they head to Goucher this Saturday for their second conference weekend, taking on Scranton as well.
