Box Score Bethlehem, Pa. - After dropping their Landmark Conference opening double header on Saturday afternoon, The Catholic University of America baseball team fell, 5-3, in game three of the league series to Moravian College on Sunday.
The Cardinals gave up a run in the first inning, but came back to score two in the top of the second. Freshman Bailey Lewis was driven home when sophomore Matt Hsiung reached first on a fielder's choice. Two batters later, sophomore Danny O'Hagan sent an RBI single up the middle to bring in senior Eric Scamardella.
Catholic held the lead through the next four scoreless innings and increased their advantage with a run in the seventh. Senior John Palladino came across the plate when Lewis hit a single into center field.
The Greyhounds answered with a run in the bottom of the inning and passed the Cardinals lead with three more in the eighth inning. The Hounds retired CUA's first three batters of the ninth inning to earn the win.
Senior Colin Kelly started on the mound for the Cards throwing five strikeouts in six innings. Junior Joseph Salzano pitched 1.1 innings of relief while fellow junior Mark Duffy and sophomore Sean Carroll each took a turn on the rubber.
The Cardinals are now 7-9 over all in the 2016 season. They continue their campaign with another Landmark series when they take on Elizabethtown beginning Friday, March 25.
