Box Score TOWSON, Md. – The Catholic University of America men's lacrosse team won its Landmark Conference opener and improved to 7-2 overall with a 13-10 win at Goucher on Saturday afternoon.
CUA took and early 5-1 lead in the first half and held off a late Gophers rally for its fourth victory in a row.
Junior Victor Licata was the offensive star for the Cardinals, tying a career high with five goals. The midfielder also added an assist and two ground balls. Fellow junior and midfielder Dylan Neville also posted a big game with seven points, scoring four times while added three assists. He also tallied five ground balls and forced five turnovers.
Sophomore Bennett Bradley showed off his all-around game with a game- and career-high 10 ground balls to go along with two goals, and once caused turnover.
Senior Harrison Holak posted double-digit saves for the second-straight game and now has at least 11 saves in seven of nine games this season.
Catholic took a 7-5 lead into the break and quickly extended its lead with three-straight goals to open the second stanza.
CUA held a big advantage in faceoffs, winning 21-of-26. Sophomore Matt Michalski went 20-of-25 from the Cards. Catholic also picked up 56 ground balls, 26 more than Goucher.
The Cardinals return home to D.C., this Thursday as they continue Landmark play against Elizabethtown at 7 p.m. CUA is undefeated at Cardinal Stadium this season.
