Catholic Edged in OT by Susquehanna in Landmark Semifinals

WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America field hockey team twice came back from a one-goal deficit and played into overtime against Susquehanna in the Landmark Conference Semifinals but were edged in extra time, 4-3.

Sophomore forward Molly Crowley registered the hat trick with three goals against the River Hawks and actually put the Cardinals up 3-2 with just 12 minutes left to play.

It was Susqehanna which finished strong however as the River Hawks scored off a penalty corner in the 68th minute to force the game into overtime.

Just five minutes into the extra period, SU scores on a short cross that was tipped in for the game-winning goal.

Senior Morgan Druce also had an impressive night for the Cardinals as she set up each goal for Crowley, finishing with three assists.

Catholic outshot Susquehanna by a 16-9 margin including a 9-1 mark in the first, but the River Hawks had all three in overtime.
