Box Score WASHINGTON – In a full 90-minute effort The Catholic University of America women's soccer team improved to 9-1 overall as the Cardinals shut out Landmark Conference foe, Elizabethtown, 2-0.
Though both teams registered 10 shots in the game, Catholic made the most of its chances and got on the board just 11 minutes into the game and then netted the insurance goal at the start of the second half.
Senior Lindsay Aleman set up the first score of the game as she crossed the ball from the left side into the middle and found sophomore Taylor Pisk for her seventh goal of the year.
Aleman also continued her goal-scoring streak to six-straight games as she found the back of the net 7:30 into the second. The forward was able to redirect the cross from sophomore Jillian Sudo for her 11th goal of they year. Aleman has now tallied at least a point in eight straight games.
Head coach JP Sousa used two goalkeepers to complete the clean sheet as junior Ally Marcello started and made three saves for the victory, while sophomore Christina Peyroux played the second half and stopped two shots to preserve the combined shutout.
Catholic returns to the pitch this coming Wednesday when the Cardinals travel to face conference opponent Goucher at 7 p.m.
