Field Hockey Edged at Elizabethtown, 1-0

Box Score

WASHINGTON – In an evenly matched game and a rematch of last year's Landmark Conference Championship, The Catholic University of America field hockey team was edged at Elizabethtown, 1-0.

It was a defensive battle between two teams that entered the contest unbeaten in league play. The two teams combined for only 15 shots and 11 penalty corners.

Each team tallied three shots in the first half and saw a scoreless tie enter the second stanza.

Just 2:33 into the second however, Etown found the game-winning score as Charity Good connected from the right post to put the Blue Jays ahead.

Catholic had two penalty corners in the final 10 minutes but was unable to get one past the Elizabethtown goalkeeper.

Though Etown was able to find the back of the cage, senior Analisa Scott kept the Cardinals in the game until the final whistle as she totaled six saves.

The Cards will look to rebound back home on Wednesday night when they continue Landmark action against Goucher at 7 p.m.
