Catholic Field Hockey Blanks Scranton, 2-0

WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America field hockey team took to the road on Saturday afternoon and shut out Scranton, 2-0.

The Cardinals got the game-winning goal off the stick of senior Morgan Druce as junior Rachel Day found her for the score in the 34th minute.

Catholic got an insurance goal in the 56th as rookie Carly Philbin took the feed from sophomore Molly Crowley at the top of the box and buried it for the score.

Senior goalkeeper Analisa Scott won her seventh game of the season, making four saves for her third shutout of the year.

Scranton actually outshot Catholic, 7-5, including a 5-1 mark in the first half, but the Cardinals made their one shot in the first 35 minutes count.

The Cards wrap up the regular season with 10 victories and a 6-1 conference record to wrap up the No. 2 seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament. Catholic hosts No. 3 Susquehanna in the semifinals this coming Wednesday at 7 p.m.
