Box Score Madison, N.J. -Lindsay Aleman of The Catholic University of America advanced her scoring streak to nine games, netting two on Saturday against Drew University while helping guide the Cardinals to a 6-0 victory.
Three additional Cardinals notched goals throughout the Landmark Conference shutout. Junior Nia Gomez started off the Catholic scoring with back-to-back first half goals. Her first score came in the 19th minutes as she headed in a corner kick served by sophomore Jillian Sudo. Just three minutes later Gomez received a cross from Aleman and played it to the back of the net. The Cards led 2-0 at the halftime intermission.
Following the break, Aleman took a turn at back-to-back goals. She completed the first in the 58th minutes, beating the Ranger's defense and taking a clear shot. Less than two minutes later Gomez fed Aleman the ball to advance the Cardinal score to 4-0.
During the 68th minute, freshman Daniella Montesano booted a long through ball to the foot of senior Jennifer Delasco. Delasco ripped the pass into the net for Catholic's fifth score of the event.
With less than five minutes remaining, freshman Elizabeth Johnson beat two Drew defenders for an open solo shot, lifting the Cardinals to a 6-0 shutout.
The Cardinals held the Rangers to zero shots on goal, with 90-minute efforts from center back junior Kate Thompson and midfielder senior Alyssa Fiore. Sophomore Christina Peyroux earned her first career start and shutout with her fourth win of the season.
Now 11-2 overall and 4-2 in conference, Catholic will return home to wrap up their season with a rematch of the 2014 & 2015 Landmark Championship games. The Cardinals will face off against the University of Scranton Royals on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 1 p.m., in the national's capital.
