Catholic Field Hockey Blanks Goucher, 1-0

Box Score

WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America field hockey team picked up an important Landmark Conference victory on Wednesday night at Cardinal Stadium as the Cards shut out the Gophers, 1-0.

After a scoreless first half, the Cardinals found the gamewinner off a penalty corner initiated by sophomore Rachel Baca. The forward fed it into the top of the circle to junior Kelly Cousoulis who blasted it in for her first career score.

The Catholic defense took care of the rest as it was to defend 10 total corners by Goucher, including seven in the second half.

Senior goalkeeper Analisa Scott earned her fourth victory and second shutout of the year as she stopped three Gopher shots, facing nine attempts.

Catholic will look to keep its momentum rolling on Cardinal Weekend as they host Moravian this Saturday at 5:30 p.m., immediately following the Homecoming football game.
