Scranton, Pa. - The Catholic University of America women's basketball team fell 70-52 to Landmark Conference foe, No. 7 the University of Scranton, on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Cardinals to 10-6 overall and 5-2 in the Landmark while the nationally ranked Royals remain undefeated (15-0, 5-0).

The Lady Cardinals took the hardwood against the No. 7 Royals, staying within just four points of Scranton at the conclusion of the first period. The Royals pulled ahead, outshooting the Cards 17-8 in the second 10 minutes of play and taking a 34-21 lead at halftime.

Scranton advanced their lead to 16 points (49-33) after the break, and sunk and additional 21 points in the final period for the 71-52 conference victory.

Catholic junior Melissa Errico put up 15 points for the Lady Cards, blocking three Royals shots and earning a pair of steals. Additionally Errico dished out three helpers and pulled down five rebounds. Fellow junior Michelle DeSantis tallied seven points with seven assists and five rebounds. Sophomore Payton Smith went 3-6 from the field and 2-3 from behind the arch for 8 points.

Senior Josephine Migash and sophomore Samantha Cowan came off the bench to rack up six points apiece for Catholic.

Catholic will continue conference play, hosting the Eagles of Juniata, on Wednesday, January 20, at 7 p.m., in the Raymond A. DuFour Center.
