Memphis, Tenn. – The defense continued to roll on Sunday but the offense fully came alive the as The Catholic University of America field hockey team exploded for 13 goals in a shutout of Hendrix.

No. 8 CUA is now a perfect 3-0 on the season, registering three blanks sheets to start the year. The Cardinals scored two goals in each of its first two games, but exploded for a lucky 13 on the Sunday before Labor Day.

The gamewinner came just 29 seconds into the contest as Lane Adams scored unassisted. She would go on to post four shots in the game, four on goal, and assist on another score.

Rachel Day continued her torrid play to start the year, registering a hat trick in the match. Day scored twice in the first and scored on 75-percent of her shots.

On the day, the Cardinals totaled 51 shots, putting 36 on goal.

10 CUA players scored and Molly Crowley joined Day as a multiple scorer, netting two goals of her own.

Madalyn Dennis also posted an impressive game, scoring once and dishing out a game-high five assists.

In goal for Catholic, Sophia Hamilton and Emma Warden combined for the shutout.

The Cards now return home this Wednesday, September 9, in a matchup against Gettysburg at 6 p.m.
