Box Score WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America field hockey team saw its 2015 season come to a close on Wednesday night at Cardinal Stadium as Bridgewater edged the Cards in the NCAA Tournament First Round, 2-1.
After a scoreless first half, Bridgewater scored twice in less than two minutes to take command of the game. The Cardinals kept attacking however as Kiera McGovern scored unassisted with just 10 minutes to go.
With the clock showing 00:00, Catholic had one last chance to extend the game as the Cards were awarded one last penalty corner.
CUA worked the ball in for a good look and got a shot off that missed the post by four inches as the game and season came to close.
Sophomore and First Team All-Landmark selection Rachel Day was the shot leader for the game, firing off six, getting three on goal. Fellow all-conference first-teamer Analisa Scott made four saves in the games.
Catholic, the 2015 Landmark Champion, is currently ranked No. 17 in the nation and boasts five all-conference selections this season as well as Rookie of the Year (Lane Adams) and Coach of the Year (Gia Cillizza).
