Box Score WASHINGTON – Senior infielder Marc Hanna reached the edges of the fence on two occasions, recording two triples in the Cardinals' 3-2 victory over cross-town foe Gallaudet at Hoy Field.
Along with Hanna's triples, junior Mike McFarland notched a triple, as sophomore Stefan Poggioli tallied three hits, one run and one RBI.
Gallaudet opened the game with a single run in the bottom of the first for a 1-0 lead.
Catholic responded with a run in the top of the second. With bases loaded, Andrew Stewart reached home when Dan Hinchcliff was hit by a pitch.
CUA advanced to a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning, as Padula tripled to center field scoring Poggioli, who was on second base.
McFarland opened the sixth inning with a triple to right field. He reached home plate on Poggioli's single up the middle for the final run of the Catholic afternoon.
The Bison alarmed the Cards with a homerun from Casey Hicks in the bottom of the ninth for a final score of 3-2.
Kevin Farley clinched the win in his five innings from the mound, where he struckout three batters and allowed two hits. Colin Kelly recorded the save with a game-high four strikeouts.
CUA returns home on Thursday, April 3 to host Shenandoah at 3:30 p.m.
