Box Score Ewing, N.J. – For the second consecutive season, the Catholic University field hockey team reached the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championships Elite 8 round, unfortunately the squad also lost in this very same point last season, this year falling 1-0 to No. 4 The College of New Jersey on Sunday, November 16.
TCNJ's Lindsey Hatch scored the only goal of the contest in the 24th minute after the team fired four consecutive shots. CUA goalkeeper Analisa Scott tallied three saves, but was unable to stop the fifth game-winning shot.
By the numbers, TCNJ out shot CUA 14-7, despite each team being awarded nine penalty corners apiece. Of the Lions' 14 shots, seven were on goal, as three of the Cardinals' seven were on target.
Scott finished the contest with six saves for Catholic and sadly she recorded her fourth loss of the season.
The Cardinals record their best season finish since 2011 with an overall record of 16-4 (.800) and 6-1 in the Landmark Conference and the program's second NCAA Elite 8 appearance in two seasons.
