Box Score WASHINGTON – The No. 14 Catholic field hockey team improved to 8-1 on the year and 2-0 in the Landmark Conference with a 4-1 victory over the Moravian Greyhounds.
Rebecca Lukaszczyk struck first at the 5:35 mark, as she rebounded a shot from Kim Hermann into the cage.
Ellen Thorburn followed up with her third goal of the season for a 2-0 lead. Her goal was assisted on a cross from the left side of the goal from Keira McGovern two minutes later.
Moravian ended the first half with a goal at the 28th minute mark. Christina Duddy found Kyla Rodrigues on the right corner of the box to cut the deficit by one.
Hermann scored the Cardinals' third goal of the evening on a pass from Ellen Thornburn at the 42nd minute mark.
Maura Campbell sealed the second Landmark Conference win on an authoritative unassisted stroke from the top of the circle.
The Cardinals dominated all aspects of the contest with 18 shots (14 on goal) to Moravian's two shots, while also taking 20 corners to the Greyhounds four.
Analisa Scott registered the win thanks to her 62 minutes in the cage, while Emma Warden was responsible for one goal in her eight minutes of play.
In spite of the loss, Megan Kanyuk finished the night with six saves for Moravian.
The Cardinals head to Salisbury University to take on the No. 1 Sea Gulls (NFHCA) for their toughest challenge of the season on Tuesday, October 7 at 6:00 p.m.
