Box Score SCRANTON, Pa. – Colleen Harwood and Taylor Elliott each found the cage on Saturday afternoon to push the No. 9 Catholic University field hockey team past the University of Scranton 2-1 for the squad's fifth Landmark Conference victory of 2014.
With the win, the Cards improve to 12-1 overall (5-0 conference), as Scranton levels its league play record to 2-2 and drops to 10-3 on the year.
Scranton lit up the scoreboard first, when Kathleen Keale tipped in an initial shot from Alyssa Fania in the 28h minute mark. Fania was credited with the assist.
CUA took two shots and were awarded six penalty corners in the first 35 minutes, but still remained scoreless.
After the halftime breather, Harwood tied the contest in the 42nd minute. Kim Hermann assisted her tap in from five yards out.
Elliott secured the win for the Cardinals, when she finished up a short pass from Rebecca Lukaszczyk in the 63nd minute mark.
The Cards took six shots (four on goal) and 12 penalty corners, while the Royals fired two shots (one on goal) and three corners of their own.
Catholic returns to Cardinal Stadium on Saturday, October 25 to take on Susquehanna for the last official home contest of the season with a 1 p.m. start.
