BETHLEHEM, Pa. – It was another tough day for CUA on Sunday, with the Cardinals dropping an 18-3 decision to Moravian in the finale of a three-game set. Moravian pounded out 22 hits and used a six-run fourth inning to pull away for the win.
Tommy Little doubled to begin the game for CUA, and moved up to third on a Matt Grieb groundout. The Cardinals were unable to bring Little home though, and Moravian responded by scoring three times in the bottom of the inning.
The Greyhounds put together five hits in the inning, including three doubles.
Moravian went in front 9-0 after a six-run fourth inning, and the lead reached 14 when five more runs scored in the sixth.
CUA got on the board for the first time in the ninth when Pat DeToro reached on an error with two outs and came home on a Wes Stonelake double.
Nick Clary then doubled in Dan Haus and Stonelake to complete the Cardinals scoring.
Robin Mowatt got the start and suffered the loss for CUA, allowing nine runs on 12 hits, before Rob Renzi, Colin Kelly, Chris Nee and Jake Meister came on in relief.
Moravian's Chris Lansberry earned the win after scattering three hits in six innings and not allowing any runs.
Joey Connell finished with five hits and four RBI for the Greyhounds, while Gregg Steinman and Matt Hanson added three hits each.
The Cardinals remain on the road for their next game, traveling to Washington College on Wednesday afternoon for a 3:30 p.m. tilt.
