Box Score HUNTINGDON, Pa. – CUA earned an important 4-3 road win at
Juniata on Saturday, as the Cardinals ran their unbeaten streak to
four straight. CUA fell behind 2-1 and then battled back to
win on Mary McGann's goal in the 81st minute. Kirsten
Wosleger scored two goals for the Cards and Nicole Appet also got
on the board.
CUA owned a 7-2 advantage in shots in the first half, and the
Cardinals were rewarded for their aggressive play in the 34th
minute when Wosleger headed in a pass from McGann for a 1-0
lead.
Both teams came alive offensively in the second half, with
Juniata's Paula Pryor scoring the first of her two goals in
the 47th minute to tie things at one.
Less than a minute later, Pryor put the Eagles on top 2-1 when she
scored off a Shayna King assist.
Wosleger tied the match at two with her second goal at the 54:35
mark. McGann tallied her second assist on the play.
Appet put the Cardinals in front with her first goal of the season
at the 72:30 mark, but the Eagles came right back to tie things at
three when Rose Lucidi scored two minutes later.
CUA showed tremendous fight down the stretch and after McGann
deflected in Regina Zolbrod's pass, the Cardinals grabbed a
4-3 lead, which they would not give back.
The Cardinals held a 16-9 advantage in shots on the day, while
Juniata was awarded six of the 11 corner kicks.
Lexi Halperin earned the win in goal for CUA with three saves, and
Eagles goalkeeper Kristin Twardowski stopped three shots as
well.
The Cardinals are back in action on Tuesday afternoon when they
host Goucher. Start time is set for 4 p.m.
