Casey Burford recently completed her first season as the head coach of the Catholic volleyball program after taking over the team on August 5, 2024.
In the program's first season under Burford, the team finished 15-21 and went 5-4 in Landmark play to earn the fifth-seed in the Landmark Conference tournament. Burford led her squad to a 3-1 win over Susquehanna in the first round of the tournament to earn the program's first win in the Landmark Conference tournament since 2013. The team went on to lose in the semi-finals of the tournament against top-ranked Juniata.
Under Burford, both Grace Guerin and Gaby Hernandez-Ferraiuoli earned spots on the All-Landmark Conference Second Team in 2024.
Prior to Catholic, Burford has spent time as an assistant coach at both the Division I and Division III levels. She most recently spent two seasons as a part-time assistant with the Goucher Gophers (2021-23) while working full-time as a Senior Admissions Recruitment Manager for 2U Inc.Â
Burford spent a year as a Division I assistant at Delaware State from 2017-2018, coaching the Hornet defense while handling recruiting and a number of other day-to-day tasks.Â
In her first role after graduating from Rowan, Burford spent two years as an assistant at Frostburg State where she earned her Masters of Education in School Counseling. In Burford's two seasons, Frostburg State won 29 contests.Â
Burford earned her Bachelor of Arts in Health and Physical Education from Rowan University in 2014. While a member of the Profs, Burford was named NJAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2013 and was a two-year captain in the program.Â
She also spent time coaching club volleyball working with Mystique Volleyball Club (2010-2014), Delaware Juniors Volleyball (2012-2018), and Frostburg Volleyball Club (2015-2017).Â
