CAMDEN, N.J.  – The Catholic women's soccer team remained on the road on Saturday afternoon against Rutgers-Camden, looking to pick up the first win of the 2026 season. The Cardinals generated a fair amount of chances and played sound defensively, but the game ended in a 0-0 draw to move them to 0-1-1 on the season.

The Cardinals generated six shots in the first half, three of which were on goal and held the Scarlet Raptors to just three shots. Madelyn Catania started in goal for Catholic in the first half and made her first save of the season 14 minutes into the period. Reagan O'Mara got the first shot off of the contest just 90 seconds into the match but the Scarlet Raptors goalie made a save to keep the score tied.

Caroline Aponte and Ava Moran also got shots on goal off in the first half and Catholic controlled play in the first 90 minutes but the score went into the break still tied at 0-0.

Aponte had two chances early in the second half but Giselle Lizardi made saves on both attempts. Aponte got another shot on goal off in the 85th minute in the top right corner but another save was made as the Cardinals tried to take a late lead.

The Cardinals controlled play throughout the match, holding the Scarlet Raptors to just three shots and one shot on goal. Alex Berish got the last shot of the game off for Catholic in the last five minutes but neither team could find the back of the net and the match ended 0-0.

In total, Catholic outshot Rutgers-Camden 10-3 in the match with six shots on goal to one. The Scarlet Raptors made six saves to keep the clean sheet and force a draw in the match. 

The Cardinals will play their home opener on Wednesday, September 9 against Bridgewater (Va.). Kickoff is set for 6 pm on Carlini Field.
