Catholic Plays to Scoreless Draw Against Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md.  –  The ninth-ranked Catholic men's soccer team concluded its four game road trip on Wednesday afternoon with a trip to Salisbury in the final non-conference contest of the season. Both teams limited chances for the opposing attack, leading to a 0-0 draw, putting the Cardinals at 7-0-2 on the season.

The Cardinals held a slight 3-2 edge in shots during the opening 45 minutes and prevented the Seagulls from putting a single shot on target. Nearly 20 minutes into the action, Seth Michalak tested the Salisbury keeper for the first time in the contest with a shot in the top left corner that was saved. Michalak had one more shot in the half and Dean Moon also got a shot off in the 41st minute but Catholic did not put a shot on target for the rest of the half.

Trevor Grice faced a shot for the first time in the early stages of the second half as he dove to his left to make a save in the 50th minute to keep the clean sheet intact. Grice went on to add a second save in the 65th minute on a shot attempt by Martin Parrish as the first shot of the half for the Cardinals did not come until the 74 minute mark from Hamin Oladokun. Carson Shamoo put a shot on target later in the half but could not beat the goalie and the Seagulls got one last chance off in the final two minutes that missed the goal and led to the game ending as a scoreless draw.

The Cardinals have now gone 37 consecutive regular season matches without suffering a loss going back to 2024. The clean sheet brought the Catholic season total to six in their nine contests so far, now holding opponents to a 0.56 goals against average. For Grice, it was his second clean sheet of the season as he has earned one in both of his starts on the year.

Along with Grice, Ellington Andrews, Graham Leary and Corey Magro played the full 90 minutes for the Cardinals in the draw. Catholic has now gone unbeaten in its last four matchups against Salisbury.

Catholic returns to Landmark Conference play on Saturday, October 3 when it squares off against Moravian for Senior Day. Kick off is set for 1 pm on Carlini Field.
