TOWSON, Md. - The Catholic women's soccer team was selected to finish second in the Landmark Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, it was announced today. After making an appearance in the Landmark Conference Championships game, the Cardinals received 70 points in the poll, as well as a first-place vote.
Casey Sommers enters her sixth season at the helm of the women's soccer program. The Cardinals reached double-digit wins for the second time under Sommers during their 2025 campaign, posting an 11-7-3 overall record under, going 6-1-2 in Landmark play. After defeating Drew and Lycoming in the conference tournament, Catholic reached the Landmark Conference title game for the second time in three seasons.
Caroline Aponte and
Alex Berish will return for the Cardinals after successful 2025 seasons, both receiving All-Landmark First Team honors. Aponte led the squad with 16 points last season, scoring six goals and making four assists. Berish made 19 starts last season, scoring two goals and adding an assist.
Angelina Serrano and
Kaitlyn Houri will also return for the Cardinals. Serrano picked up two goals last season, while Houri notched her first career goal.
Scranton took the top spot in the poll after winning the title match, receiving 81 points and nine first-place votes. Lycoming followed Catholic in the poll with 67 points. Susquehanna and Elizabethtown rounded out the top five of the poll.
