Di Nicolantonio, Brunet, and Locke All Medaled at Day One of Landmarks

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Catholic men's track and field team traveled to Huntingdon, Pennsylvania to compete in the Landmark Conference Championships. Three Cardinals medaled on the first day of the championship and a handful qualified for their respective finals. 

In the long jump, Adrian Villatoro placed seventh with his distance of 6.32m, giving the Cardinals their first two points of the meet. Brandon Hancock placed tenth with a distance of 6.15m with freshman Drew Madden following behind in 11th with a distance of 6.10m. Anthony Escuadro and Nicholas Chang also competed in the event with distances of 5.82m and 5.30m, respectively. 

Michael Brunet collected the first Cardinal medal on the day, finishing second in the 1500m. The freshman ran a time of 3:54.81, collecting eight points for the Cardinals. Peter Winter ran a personal best time of 4:03.23. The sophomore finished fourth and earned five points. Joshua Leon and David Stango also ran the 1500m, logging a season best 4:23.18 and 4:23.85, respectively. 

Christian Di Nicolantonio was the first Catholic champion of the meet, posting a venue best height of 4.55m in the pole vault. He finished above Susquehanna's Hayden Durst who logged a height of 4.45m. 

Romell Randolph logged a personal best time of 22.14 with his second place qualifying finish in the 200m prelims. Calvin Hernandez ran a 22.65 in the prelims.

Hernandez placed second in the 100m prelims with his personal best time of 10.71, qualifying for the finals. This is the program's third best time. Malachi McIver ran a personal best during the prelims, 11.33. 

Madden and Gabe Devaney both qualified for the 110m hurdles finals after logging personal bests in the prelims. Madden ran 16.30 in fifth place and Devaney ran 16.30 in seventh place. 

Closing out day one on the track, Joey Locke secured a third place podium finish in the 10,000m with his personal best time of 32:30.41. This is the new program's second best time in the event. He also chalked up six points for the Cardinals. Richard Harrington also earned a personal best, 32:42.04, which is the program's third best time. The junior placed sixth and logged three points. 

In the 10,000m, Patrick Morris and Daniel Ponciano logged bests as well. Morris ran a time of 33:33.53, the program's sixth best time. Ponciano also moved up the record books to seventh with his time of 33:36.81. 

Sean Eiffe earned two points for the Cardinals in shot put with his seventh place finish. The freshman reached 12.59m with his throw. Benjamin Warr threw 11.74m. James Varellas logged a distance of 11.53m. Warren Gillis rounded out the Cardinal crew with a throw of 11.23m. 

Mark Enamorado was the highest finisher in the hammer throw for the Cardinals with 11th place. He threw a distance of 37.94m. Warr threw 35.58m.
 
After day one, the Cardinals have 40 points and are in 4th place. Catholic will return on Sunday, May 3rd for the second and final day of the Landmark Championship.
