WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic hosted Moravian on Friday for a mid-day match up against the Greyhounds. The Cardinals fell in the meeting after a tough battle, 4-1.
In doubles, the Cardinals battled hard against the Greyhounds.
Mairead O'Hara and
Ava Niggemeier won the first match for Catholic in a close contest on court three, winning 7-5.
Shloka Tambat and
Annie Nemoy fell in the one spot in a tough match up, 6-4. It all came down to court two, and
Meaghan Laniewski and
Marcela Pena were fighting to pull out the win. They ultimately fell to their Moravian opponents, 7-5.
Nemoy secured the first point for the Cardinals in the second singles spot. She faced Natalia Smith, beating her 5-2 before securing the victory by retirement. On court three, O'Hara battled Sydney Shifman, falling in a tight set one, 7-5. Shifman took the momentum into set two, winning 6-1.
Due to weather conditions, the match concluded with Moravian winning 4-1.
Up next, the Cardinals will take on Scranton in their regular season finale on Saturday, April 25th. The match will take place at the United States Naval Academy and is set to begin at 1 p.m.
