Cardinals Secure Dominant Victory Over Lycoming

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic women's tennis team faced off against Lycoming on the Dowd Family Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals dominated the Warriors in the Landmark Conference match, defeating them 7-0.

Catholic started with an early advantage, securing the doubles point with wins on all three courts. Ella Knox and Annie Nemoy shutout their Lycoming opponents on court one, winning 6-0. Mairead O'Hara and Ava Niggemeier captured another win in the two spot, also shutting out their opponent with a 6-0 victory. Marcela Peña and Ryan Adesso secured the sweep with a 6-1 over the Warriors on court three.

In singles, Catholic continued to dominate with straight set victories across all six courts. Annie Nemoy, Ava Kaloustian and Ella Knox all defeated their opponents 6-0, 6-0. Nemoy won against Sadie Stahl in the one spot, Kaloustian took down Rayna Burke in the five spot, and Knox defeated Greta Kimble on court two. 

Meaghan Laniewski, Niggemeier, and Samantha D'Addezio also contributed wins to the victory on Saturday. Laniewski played against Cassandra Conner on court three, capturing the win 6-2, 6-0. Niggemeier battled against Yeanneth Rosado in the four spot, defeating her 6-1, 6-0. The shutout win was secured with D'addezio's victory on court six where she defeated Hannah Wood, 6-2, 6-1.

This win improves the Cardinals to 8-8 overall and they remain unbeaten with a Landmark record of 5-0.

Catholic will be back in action on Sunday, April 12 in Selinsgrove, Pa. against Susquehanna. The meeting is set to begin at 1 p.m.
