Box Score SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Catholic women's tennis team went on the road on Sunday for an afternoon Landmark Conference match against Susquehanna. The Cardinals captured another win, defeating the River Hawks 7-0
Catholic secured an early advantage with wins on all three doubles courts.
Mairead O'Hara and
Ava Niggemeier finished first in the two spot, shutting out their Susquehanna pair, 6-0.
Annie Nemoy and
Ava Kaloustian locked in the doubles point with a win on court three, 6-1.
Ella Knox and
Meaghan Laniewski also defeated their River Hawk opponents in the one spot, 6-1.
In singles, Laniewski and Nemoy both shut out their competitors. Nemoy faced off against Alexa Wanamaker on court one, winning 6-0, 6-0. Laniewski took on Amelia Maguire on the fourth court, also winning 6-0, 6-0.
Knox, O'Hara, Niggemeier all won in straight sets. Knox took on Kaiya Reisinger on court two, defeating her 6-2, 6-0. O'Hara won in the three spot against Katherine Yoder, 6-2, 6-1. Niggemeier battled against Macey Dibastani, winning the match 6-2 in both sets.
Kaloustian secured the sweep on court six after battling Susquehanna's Claire Gallagher. Kaloustian defeated Gallagher by a narrow margin in set one, 6-4. Gallagher continued to fight, keeping the score narrow, but Kaloustian ultimately took her down in the match, winning 7-5.
With this victory, the Cardinals remain unbeaten in Landmark play with a record of 6-0, improving their overall record to 9-8. Up next, Catholic will host Marymount on Thursday, April 16 at 1 p.m.
