WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic men's tennis team hosted Lycoming for another Landmark Conference match on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals celebrated senior day, shutting down the Warriors with a 7-0 win.
Prior to the start of the game, Catholic honored five seniors for their dedication to the program and for their hard work on and off the court:
Nathaniel Barish,
James Earwood, Henry Ogden,
Leyton Ramos-Platt, and
Diego Romo.
Catholic started the match hot with a sweep in doubles matches. Ramos-Platt and Barish finished first in the three spot, defeating their opponents 6-0.
Lorenzo Neri and
Paulo Emanuelli secured the doubles point on court two, taking down their Warrior competitors 6-1. Romo and Ogden locked in the sweep with a 6-2 victory in the one spot.
In singles matches, the Cardinals continued to dominate. Ogden secured the second point for Catholic, taking down Logan Hammond in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Neri and Ramos-Platt won their matches in similar fashion, Neri taking down Josh Neidert on court one 6-0, 6-0 and Ramos-Platt defeating Thomas Andersen in the four spot 6-0, 6-0.
Romo secured the win for the Cardinals in the two spot, taking the fourth point in the against Kayvan Shams. Romo battled in the match, but pulled out the win in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
Jay Harper and Barish also contributed wins to the Cardinals shutout victory. Barish took down Keegan Gill, 6-2, 6-0 in the five spot, while Harper also won in straight sets on court six, 6-1, 6-0.
With this victory, the Cardinals improve their record to 10-6, and remain unbeaten in Landmark play with a record of 5-0.
Up next, Catholic will hit the road to continue Landmark play with a match against Susquehanna on Sunday, April 12. The meeting is set to begin at 1 p.m. in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania.
