EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. - The Catholic men's tennis team hit the road on Saturday afternoon for a Landmark Conference match against Wilkes University. The Cardinals dominated over the Colonels, defeating them 6-1.
Catholic swept in doubles, capturing the victory in all three spots.
Diego Romo and
James Earwood faced off against Cole Riley and Sebastian Sylvester in the one spot, winning 6-2. In the two spot,
Ian Arenas and
Lorenzo Neri had the closest battle, but defeated Otarhe Okoh and Landon Gleichauf 6-3.

ake Hershey also took down their Colonel opponents Xavier Bleiler and Luke Meissner in the three spot, 6-2.
With the doubles point secured, the Cardinals went into singles looking to lock in the victory. In the one spot, Neri defeated his opponent, Cole Riley, 6-0, 6-2.
Jay Harper won in similar fashion, competing against Cole Larcinese in the six spot, securing another point for the Cardinals in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0.
In the three spot, Romo faced Otarhe Okoh, defeating him 6-0 in set one and 6-4 in set two. Hollinger took on Xavier Bleiler in the four spot, winning 6-2 in both sets.
To secure the sixth point for Catholic, Arenas battled hard in the five spot against Landon Gleichauf. He was down 1-4 in the first set, but fought hard to secure the win in the tiebreak, 7-6. Arenas then defeated Gleichauf in set two, 6-2.
This win improves the Cardinals to 7-5 overall and 2-0 in Landmark play. The Cardinals will be back in action on Saturday, March 28Â at home against Moravian. The match is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. on the Dowd Family Tennis Courts.
