CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The Catholic women's tennis team opened up their spring season on the road against Washington College on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals competed hard against the Shorewomen, but fell 4-3 in the match.
Despite Washington College capturing wins in the two and three spots to earn the doubles point,
Annie Nemoy and
Shloka Tambat had a solid performance over the Shorewomen in the one spot, finishing first with a score of 6-3.
In singles matches, Nemoy continued her strong showing, defeating Washington College's Eva Kading 6-3 and 6-2 to earn a point for Catholic.
Tambat also put up a fight in the two spot, defeating Soleil Namunyola 6-3 in set one and winning the tiebreaker in set two, taking the set 7-6 to earn another point for the Cardinals.
Mairead O'Hara added a third point for the Cardinals in the five spot, winning 6-4 in the first set and 6-3 in the second.
Despite their success on the singles front, Catholic fell in the three, four, and six spots against the Shorewomen, and were ultimately defeated in the match, 4-3. This loss brings their record to 3-4 overall for their 2025-26 campaign.
Up next, Catholic will travel to Salisbury on Sunday, Feb. 22. The Cardinals will take on the Seagulls at noon.
