SALISBURY, Md. - The Catholic women's tennis team faced off against Salisbury on Sunday afternoon for a non-conference match. The Cardinals fell to the Seagulls, 4-1.
Catholic had a strong start, taking the doubles point with three wins over Salisbury.
Annie Nemoy and
Shloka Tambat started in the one spot, defeating Gibelle Beaujon and Cleopatra Soloman 6-3. Catholic's
Meaghan Laniewski and
Ella Knox took down their opponents in a similar fashion, winning 6-3 in the two spot over Evelyn Whiteside and Olivia Hall.
Mairead O'Hara and
Ava Niggemeier also won in the three spot, 6-4 to secure the doubles point.
Nemoy and Knox both fought hard in singles, but each fell 7-5 and 6-4 in the two and three spots.
Ultimately, the Cardinals dropped the match 4-1. Up next, they will continue their road stint in Hilton Head, S.C. They will first face off against Randolph at 9 p.m. on March 8.
