Catholic Puts on Scoring Showcase in Dominant Win Over Goucher

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Catholic women's soccer team had no trouble finding the back of the net in its road matchup against Goucher. Seven Cardinals scored in an 8-0 effort over the Gophers.

The Cardinals took the zero off the scoreboard early with a goal in the 13th minute. Angelina Serrano connected with teammate Reagan O'Mara, who sent the ball into the back of the net. Catholic doubled its lead with another connection between teammates in the 25th goal. Sara Greaser found Melany Monagas, who scored her first career goal.

Catholic continued putting offense on Goucher, taking multiple shots and holding possession. Greaser earned a goal of her own in the 31st minute with Catalina Zumbado tallying an assist in the process.

Zumbado, with an assist to her name, added a goal to her stat sheet in the 40th minute of the match. Katie Scully and Carly Lewinski one-touched passes to find Zumbado in the box for the fourth goal of the night.

Senior captain Alex Berish earned her goal of the season and Catholic's fifth of the match. Berish, usually a pillar on defense, was found by Cait Dorry and took advantage of the opportunity in the final minute of the half. When halftime came, Catholic led 5-0.

Catholic's offensive prowess did not stop at the half. O'Mara, who opened the first half with a goal, started the second half in the same fashion in the 51st minute. Serrano and Meredith Dunsmore added two more goals before the final whistle blew.

The Cardinals defeated the Gophers 8-0, moving to 3-0 in Landmark play.
