CARLISLE, Pa. — The Catholic women's tennis team started its fall 2025 campaign on the road against Dickinson on Friday afternoon. Despite sweeping the three doubles matches to earn the point, the Cardinals fell to the Red Devils 5-2 to drop the match.
Shloka Tambat and
Annie Nemoy played in the number one spot in doubles for the Cardinals and came away with a 6-3 win in their matchup. The pair was able to get ahead 3-1 in the match and took each of the last two sets to come away with the win. For Nemoy, she earned her first college doubles win.
Meaghan Laniewski and
Ella Knox locked up the doubles point for Catholic in the number three spot in a match that came down to the wire. The two battled back from down 5-4 to force a playoff and take the final two sets to come away with a 7-5 win.
Despite already locking up the point,
Mairead O'Hara and
Ava Niggemeier dominated in their match to finish off a clean sweep in doubles for the Cardinals. They stormed out to a 3-0 lead and never looked back, finishing the set by a score of 6-1.
Niggemeier came away with the lone singles win of the day for Catholic in the number six spot, winning in two sets by scores of 6-2 and 6-1.
The Cardinals will play a pair of home matches tomorrow, September 13 at the Dowd Family Tennis Courts against York (Pa.) and St. Mary's (Md.).
