CARLISLE, Pa. — The Catholic men's tennis team started the 2025 fall season on the road at Dickinson on Friday afternoon. The Cardinals played solid up and down the roster in the opening match to come away with a 6-1 win over the Red Devils.
In doubles play,
James Earwood and
Diego Romo team up in the number one slot to come away with a 6-3 victory to set the tone for the Cardinals. Despite falling behind 3-2 in the match up, the pairing were able to take each of the last four games to take the victory.
Jake Hershey and
Flynn Hollinger were the third Catholic doubles pairing and earned the Cardinals the point by taking the match in convincing fashion, 6-1. Each earned their first collegiate doubles victory with the win and took the last five sets in the match to claim the victory.
In singles play,
Lorenzo Neri played in the number on spot and won both of the sets played by scores of 6-2 and 6-3. Romo also added his second win of the day in the number three singles slot by scores of 6-4 and 6-3.
Hershey and Hollinger also both picked up the first singles wins in their careers in the number four and number five sport respectively.
Romo earned his 74th career win in doubles and his 65th win in singles during the match.
The Cardinals are back in action tomorrow, September 13 for multiple matches at the Dowd Family Tennis Courts against York (Pa.) and St. Mary's (Md.).
