TOWSON, Md. — The Catholic field hockey team was picked to finish third in the Landmark Conference this season in the 2025 field hockey preseason poll, it was announced yesterday. The Cardinals received one first place vote in the poll and finished just two points shy of the second place spot.
The Cardinals put together a strong season in Landmark play in 2024, finishing with a 7-2 conference record to earn the second-seed and a bye in the Landmark Conference Tournament. Catholic picked up a ranked win in the regular season over #25 Scranton, but fell to the Royals in the semifinal of the conference tournament.
Head coach
Rachel Palumbo enters her fifth season at the helm of the program ahead of the 2025 season. Her team has reached the conference tournament each of the last four seasons, reaching the conference championship two times and winning the title in 2022.
Catholic returns three All-Landmark selections from a season ago, including
Lauren Keast, who was tied for the team lead in points last season with 19. She led the squad in assists with seven and was tied for the second-most goals with six.
Molly Romano,
MaryKate Ardizzi and
Tess Hake all also return this season for the Cardinals, who each scored multiple goals last season.
Ella Bowman returns in the cage for the Cardinals this season after her All-Landmark Honorable Mention selection last year. Bowman posted a 7-6 record in her freshman campaign with 58 saves and a GAA of 2.01 which was fourth-best in the Landmark last season.
Susquehanna took the top spot in the preseason poll, totaling 80 points in the poll and eight first place votes. Scranton, Catholic, Moravian and Drew rounded out the top five in the poll, with the Royals receiving the other available first place vote.
The Cardinals open up their season on the road against #23 TCNJ on Saturday, August 30 at 1 pm. Catholic's home opener will take place on Wednesday, September 3 at Cardinal Stadium at 6 pm against Randolph-Macon.
