ALLIANCE, OHIO - Catholic's NCAA Tournament run came to a close on Sunday afternoon in the NCAA Division III Regional Championship as Rowan knocked it out with a 20-4 victory.
Catholic opened the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single off the bat of
Sammy Burman, but Rowan continued their red-hot run at the plate, scoring the next 14 runs.
Jack Bateman hit his second home run in as many days for the Cardinals, ending a run of 14 unanswered from the Profs. Rowan would tack on six more runs in the seventh before Catholic added its final runs of the day in the ninth with RBI singles from
Joe Marini and
Dante Pozzi.
Steve Thomas, Marini,
Zach Burton, and Bateman each had multi-hit days for the Cardinals who racked up 12 hits on the day and drew five walks. Marini hit his first triple of the season and the third of his career in the game.
The Profs totaled 23 hits with five players recording at least three hits. Phil Sedalis hit three home runs and drove in seven runs while Tyler Cannon added four hits and four runs. Zach Coluccio earned his eighth win, tossing 7.1 innings and striking out seven.

- With two more hits on the day, Thomas finishes the season hitting .401 with a program record 73 hits. Thomas finishes in a tie for fifth in a single-season with 18 doubles.
- Five different Cardinals finished the season with more than 50 hits and three with 60 or more. Thomas (73), Burman (61), Pozzi (60), Mitchel Johnson (56), and Marini (51).
- With his sixth home run of the season, Bateman finishes second on the team in home runs breaking a tie with Marini.
