TOWSON, Md. -
Izzy Fiore scored three of the game's first five goals as Catholic raced to a 22-3 road victory at Goucher on Wednesday evening. The Cardinals dominated early and often, taking a 14-3 lead into the break before scoring the final eight goals in the second half.
Fiore,
Lindsay Sawyer, and
Maddie McDevitt all recorded hat tricks while
Jessie Lee,
Peyton Wozniak,
Olivia Daniels, and
Caroline Regan scored two goals each in the win. Lee handed out a career-high five assists in a seven-point day, pushing her past 75 points for her Catholic career.
Fiore and Sawyer combined to score the first five goals before Goucher got on the board with 7:25 to play in the opening quarter. McDevitt added two first-quarter goals while Regan added one late in the period as the Cardinals built an 8-2 advantage.
Catholic scored the first six goals of the second period before Charlotte Bloom snuck one in for the Gophers with 10 seconds left in the half. Lee opened the quarter scoring, followed by Daniels and
Tori Wilsey before Sawyer added her third of the half. Returning to game action for the first time this season,
Charlotte Spaulding scored with 4:41 to play in the half before Lee added the 14th Catholic goal of the opening 30 minutes.
The defense kept Goucher under wraps for the final 30 minutes with
Reagan Laubner and
Lilly Milberg getting on the board in the third. Between the third and fourth quarters, Lee assisted on four straight goals, including
McDevitt's fourth-quarter finish to put Catholic up 18-3. Wozniak followed to make it 19-3 before
Reagan Quinn scored Catholic's 20th of the night. Daniels and Regan finished off the scoring in the final six minutes.
Catholic caused 14 turnovers in the win led by four from Fiore and three from Lee. Lee also added three draw controls and three ground balls for Catholic.
Ellie Verrill joined Spaulding in a return to action and caused two turnovers, scooped up two ground balls, and was credited with a draw control. Bunnick matched Lee's three draw controls to top the team.
The Cardinals remain unbeaten against the Gophers in the all-time series, improving to 19-0.
Catholic travels to Moravian on Saturday for a Landmark Conference contest.
