SCRANTON, Pa. -
Tori Wilsey and
Jessie Lee each scored a pair of goals, but a massive second quarter helped Scranton defeat Catholic 19-6 on Saturday.
The Cardinals took an early 2-1 lead after goals from Lee and
Maddie McDevitt at the 10:36 and 9:36 marks of the opening quarter. Erin Reich and Grace Lane answered for the Royals, putting them ahead by one after 15 minutes.
Henley Bredemann scored her 30th goal of the season with 12:47 left in the first half to make it a one-goal game, but Scranton would end the half on a 7-0 run to head into the half break with an 11-3 lead.
Wilsey would score Catholic's lone goal of the third quarter to make it 12-4, but Scranton would ultimately build a 16-4 lead in the fourth before Wilsey's second ended the run. Lee would score Catholic's final goal in the final minute.
Freshman
Kelly Bunnick caused three turnovers, picked up three ground balls, and won two draw controls for Catholic while Wilsey and Lee eached caused a pair of turnovers.
Caroline Gaines won a team-high three draw controls and added three ground balls.
Catholic remains on the road for its next two contests, traveling to Goucher on Wednesday and Moravian on Saturday.
