BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Playing to clinch in an indoor match at Timothy Breidegam Fieldhouse, Catholic men's tennis dropped a competitive contest, 4-2.
Despite all three doubles matches being highly competitive, Moravian swept the matches, taking the doubles point.
James Earwood and
Diego Romo dropped a close one, 7-5, while
Lorenzo Neri and
Paulo Emanuelli lost in a tiebreaker.
The top two singles players for Catholic, Earwood and Neri, both won their matches. Earwood was clean throughout, winning 6-3, 6-2 to tie the match at 1-1. Neri won the third singles match to complete, 6-4, 6-4, tying the match again at 2-2. Romo lost a tough one, winning the second set 6-4 to force a tiebreak, but Gavin Labbadia held him off 10-5 in the tiebreak.
Moravian got wins at No. 4 and No. 5 singles to finish the match off 4-2.
The Cardinals had already secured the number-two seed and will host a Landmark Conference Semifinal on Thursday at 3 p.m.
