WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Catholic men's tennis team looked to keep its season rolling against Drew on Thursday afternoon in the Landmark Conference Semi-Final. Despite taking the match in the No. 2 doubles spot, the Cardinals fell 2-1 in doubles and ultimately went on to lose 4-0 to the Rangers.
After the Rangers won the first doubles match,
Lorenzo Neri and
Paulo Emanuelli took their doubles match 6-4 to give the Cardinals a shot to take the doubles point.
Henry Ogden and
Charlie Robbins played in a tough battle in the final doubles match and found a late 5-4 lead. After Drew knotted things back up at five, they were able to capture the tiebreaker to win the match and earn the point for the Rangers.
James Earwood, Neri and
Diego Romo all played in the one, two and three singles matches for Catholic and fought hard, but the Rangers recorded wins in each of the games to lead to a 4-0 win and advance to the Landmark Conference Championship.
Catholic had Robbins, Ogden and
Drew Andrianopoulos compete in the three through six spots, but the match was concluded before those matchups were completed.
The Cardinals finished the season with a 15-5 record after going 7-2 in conference play this season and made it to the semi-finals for the second consecutive season.
