Ben Perks was the lone Catholic men's tennis senior honored prior to Sunday's Landmark Conference match with the Wilkes Colonels. The senior helped the Cardinals win the doubles point on the way to a 6-1 victory.
Catholic raced to the doubles point, starting with the No. 1 doubles group of
James Earwood and
Diego Romo running away with a 6-0 victory.
Lorenzo Neri and
Paulo Emanuelli followed with a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles to secure the 1-0 lead heading into singles before
Charlie Robbins and
Ben Perks made it a doubles sweep with a 6-4 win.
Romo opened up singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 3 with Neri hot on his heels with a 6-1, 6-1 win to push Catholic ahead 3-0. Earwood battled with Nathaniel Rathe, dropping a 6-3 set before winning the second 6-2. Earwood came away victorious, 7-6 in the final set with a 7-2 victory in the tiebreaker to secure a match victory.
Henry Ogden was a winner at No. 5 singles, winning 6-0, 6-2 while
Drew Andrianopoulos won at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-1.
The Cardinals, now 13-3 and 5-1 in the Landmark finish the regular season with a big stretch of matches between April 23 and April 26.
