Neylon Named Player of the Year; Herbert, Buckley Honored by Landmark

| By:
TOWSON, Md. - Sean Neylon was named Player of the Year by the Landmark Conference, making him the fifth player in program history to earn the honor. Neylon, a first-team selection, was joined by Dan Buckley and Brian Herbert as all-conference players for the Cardinals in 2025.

Neylon adds a second All-Landmark Conference honor to his career tally after earning All-Landmark Second Team honors in 2022-23. The senior wing makes it back-to-back seasons with a conference player of the year for Catholic, joining Jesse Hafemeister. Neylon recently became the 49th player in Catholic history to score 1,000 or more points in a Cardinal uniform. The senior has started every game this season, averaging 17.1 points per game and 4.0 rebounds per contest while shooting 46.8 percent from three. Neylon has made 88 three-pointers, tied for the fourth-most in a season in Catholic history while his three-point percentage ranks ninth. The four-time Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week joins Hafemeister ('24), Jay Howard ('18), Bryson Fonville ('15), and Chris Kearney ('13) as the Player of the Year representatives in Catholic history.

Buckley and Herbert were named to the All-Landmark Second Team, the first all-conference selection for both players. Buckley, a senior guard from Jacksonville, Fla. put together the best season of his career to earn the honor. Buckley appeared in all but one contest this season, starting all 26 in which he appeared. The veteran guard plays 31.0 minutes per game and is averaging 10.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. Buckley's scoring is up from 6.7 to 10.2 points per game and he has recorded 28 more assists than last season in three less games. A strong shooter from deep, Buckley has made one three per game this year while making them at a 37 percent clip. Buckley has come on strong over the last month-plus, scoring a career-high 20 points in a win at Susquehanna and raising his scoring average from 8.5 to 10.2 over the final nine games.

Herbert, a junior from Robbinsville, N.J. also has career-highs rolling across the board. The junior has raised his scoring average from 9.0 points per game to 13.5 while grabbing 5.7 rebounds. Herbert set new season-bests in blocks (21) and steals (20) and has matched his career-high for threes made in a season with 19. Herbert recorded a pair of double-doubles in 2024-25 while also setting a new career-high with 26 points against Wilkes in the Landmark Conference Semifinals. Herbert has scored 15 or more points 10 times this season.

The Cardinals now have 15 all-conference selections under head Coach Aaron Kelly with Neylon becoming the sixth first-team selection.
