WASHINGTON, D.C. – Catholic men's tennis took on Washington College in a non-conference match on Friday afternoon. The Cardinals played several close matches, but ultimately fell 0-7.
Washington College gained and early 1-0 lead after securing the doubles point with a three-match sweep. Catholic's No. 1 and No. 2 doubles played incredible sets, making it difficult for the Shoremen to close out victories, before dropping both 4-6.
Lorenzo Neri had the match of the day, taking his opponent to three sets. He lost a competitive match in the first set and stormed back to dominate the second set. In the third set tiebreak, Neri sprinted to a 5-1 lead before his opponent slowly climbed back to force 9-9 and then the match.
Henry Ogden had a positive showing in his No. 4 singles match. He earned five games in his match that finishes with set scores of 2-6, 3-6.
Catholic is back in action tomorrow for a Landmark Conference match against Juniata.
