WASHINGTON, D.C. - Despite losing the doubles point, Catholic won four of six singles matches to clinch a thrilling victory over Drew on Saturday afternoon.
Trailing 3-1 after dropping matches at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, Catholic rallied with wins at four, five, and six to improve to 10-1 on the season and 3-0 in Landmark Conference play.
Diego Romo put Catholic on the board with a win at No. 3 singles, finishing first in a 6-1, 6-3 take down.
After
Lorenzo Neri and
James Earwood were bested in singles, the Cardinals bounced back with a victory from
Drew Andrianopoulos at No. 6 singles, winning 6-0, 6-1. After
Ben Perks won at No. 4 singles to tie the match at 3-3, winning 7-5, 6-4, it all came down to
Henry Ogden versus Josh Kline.
Kline took the advantage, going up with a 7-5 win before Ogden rallied back with a 6-3 win to force a tiebreaker, winning 7-5 before being mobbed by his teammates in celebration.
Neri and
Paulo Emanuelli won their match at No. 2 doubles, winning 7-5.
