Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Catholic men's tennis team picked up its second win of the weekend with a dominant 6-1 victory over Lebanon Valley on Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals claimed the opening doubles point and added five singles wins to move to 11-1 on the season.
Diego Romo won both of his matches on the day, playing at No. 1 doubles and No. 3 singles. He combined with
James Earwood once again to come out on top of the deciding doubles match, 6-2. On his own, Romo fought through a first set, 6-4, before cruising through the second, 6-1.
Ben Perks and
Charlie Robbins were also victorious in both of their matches. The pair gave Catholic the first point of the contest with a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles. Perks followed this performance with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles. Robbins found himself in the closest match of the day at No. 6. After winning the first set, his opponent came back to take the second. The score was even at 9-9 each in the second set tiebreak, but Robbins was able to make strong plays down the stretch to secure the last two points.
Lorenzo Neri had an impressive day at No. 2 singles, winning 6-2, 6-3.
Henry Ogden won another close match at No. 5. He took the first set 6-4 and needed a tiebreak to finish the job in the second set.
Catholic will travel to Washington College for a Friday afternoon match on March 28.
