HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Making their debut at the Hilton Head Spring Tennis Fest, Catholic men's tennis battled against a competitive Gettysburg squad on Wednesday morning. The Cardinals won one doubles match before dropping the contest by a final score of 0-7. 

James Earwood and Diego Romo snagged an impressive victory at No. 1 doubles at the beginning of the match. The duo continued their win streak by defeating their opponents 7-6 in a tiebreaker. The juniors are now unbeaten in doubles action together, going a perfect 5-0 this season. 

The No. 3 doubles pairing of Charlie Robbins and Ben Perks worked well together during a back-and-forth contest. They won four games in total but ultimately conceded the match, 4-6.

Earwood also had a close singles match at the No. 2 spot. He fought to come within two games of his competitor but fell 5-7 in the first set. The second set saw more of the same as he picked up three games but fell lightly short of forcing a third set.

The Cardinals are 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the Landmark Conference heading into the heart of the spring season.

Catholic is set to face Baldwin Wallace in its final match of the week on Friday, Mach 14 at 4:30 p.m.
