Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Catholic men's tennis played two matches on clay courts on Friday afternoon to conclude competition at the Hilton Head Spring Tennis Fest. The Cardinals were victorious against Baldwin Wallace (4-3) and Webster (4-2) to improve to 9-1 on the season.

MATCH 1: Catholic 4, Baldwin Wallace 3

The No. 1 doubles team of James Earwood and Diego Romo won in dominant fashion to start the match. They cruised to a 6-0 finish to give Catholic an early advantage, however, the Yellow Jackets won the next two matches to clinch the doubles point.

Romo picked up his second win of the day with a comeback effort at No. 2 singles. He found himself down 2-5 in his first set but was able to fight back and find success in the tiebreak. He used that momentum to take a quick 3-0 lead in the second set before soaring to a 6-3 win. Earwood also returned to the courts for singles action, playing an incredibly tight match at No. 1. He forced a first set tiebreak and fell just short in the second with final set scores of 6-7, 5-7.

Lorenzo Neri, Ben Perks, and Drew Andrianopoulos all won their respective singles matches. Neri played his first match on clay today and dropped the first set 4-6, but began to find his footing in the second set and rallied to win 6-3. He was down 2-7 in the tiebreak before pulling off a comeback to win 11-9. Perks played a clean match to win in straights, 6-2, 6-4. Andrianopoulos won the final four games of his match to secure the Catholic team victory.

MATCH 2: Catholic 4, Webster 2

The Cardinals continued their day in similar fashion, winning one doubles match and making up the deficit in singles action.

Henry Ogden and Andrianopoulos combined at No. 3 doubles and were able to work together down the stretch to come out on top in a tight 6-4 match. Webster took a one point lead into singles action after winning the doubles decision with victories at No. 1 and No. 2.

The team scores were evened at one apiece thanks to the performance by Leyton Ramos-Platt at No. 4 singles. He stayed consistent throughout the entirety of his match to win 6-4, 6-4. Webster pulled ahead again after the completion of the No. 1 singles match, but the Cardinals won the next three to clinch the match.

Romo bested his opponent again with a battle at No. 2. After winning the first set easily, fatigue caused him to drop the second 4-6. The junior regained focus to claim the third set tiebreak. Charlie Robbins followed with a three-set effort of his own at No. 3, rebounding quickly after a first set loss to dominate in the second. He was down 4-7 in the tiebreak and came back once again to win 11-9. Nathaniel Barish clinched the match  with a victory at No. 6, winning 6-3, 6-1.

Catholic will return to D.C to take on Drew next Saturday at 1 p.m.
